Sinopsis

Niá¹úṡhÄü or Nishtha i.e. àñ¿àñ¿àñ·àÑìàñáàñ¾ in Sanskrit Grammar is a kridanta word formed by adding a àñòàÑâàññàÑì affix. These krIÑtáaffixes are àñòàÑìàññ and àñòàÑìàññàñµàññàÑü (kta , ktavatu). Sanskrit Literature, especially theáBhagavad Gita and the Upanishadsáhave frequent use of àñ¿àñ¿àñ·àÑìàñáàñ¾ words,áprimarily as Participles used as Verbs. And that too the Past Participle Passive àñòàÑìàññ (kta) used in the sense ofáPast Tense, in place of the Verbs made using the àñ²àñÖàÑì affix.áThe beauty of using àñ¿àñ¿àñ·àÑìàñáàñ¾ lies in the fact that the same àñ¿àñ¿àñ·àÑìàñáàñ¾ Participial Verb can be used in first person, secondáperson or third person with no change in spelling.á(This is not true of using àñ²àñÖàÑì affixed Verbs).Nishtha words are also used as Adjectives in a sentence. Another significance of using àñ¿àñ¿àñ·àÑìàñáàñ¾ words is in aáspiritual context, since the dictionary meaning of Nishtha isáDetermination or Commitment. Also Faith, Devotion and Assimilation of Knowledge. This handbook lists the Nishtha kta & ktavatu forms of entire Dhatupatha Roots, vizáDhatu Serial No 1 to 1943.Additionally for the serious student,- theáAshtadhyayi Sutra(s) are given if final Nishtha form isácomplexáforáeach and every such Root.-áInternal Grouping of Rootsáis clearly marked and easily accessible.- Accented Roots are listed.-áEnglish Meaningáof each Root is listed.-áRoot attributesáviz.
