Sinopsis

Geography is a subject that is often not understood by students when taught in the classroom. Considering their lack of interest in the subject, whether due to the teaching method or even demotivation, this paper highlights field trips as a methodology in the teaching of Geography as a way of bringing students closer to reality, to the geographical space in which they live. Thus, the objective of this study is to awaken interest in the subject, transform the worldview, and provide students with a critical reading of space, highlighting the importance of field trips in teaching geography. Thus, a field class was held with 1st-year secondary school students from Colégio Estadual Flávio Ferreira da Luz (Curitiba - PR), focusing on the conditions and quality of surface water. The pedagogical practice applied facilitated students? understanding of the concepts discussed in the classroom and also raised their awareness of the conservation of rivers and streams. The methodology applied aims to reach not only students but also teachers who seek to work with geography and environmental education.
